Surface Coating
Wood has a way of bringing warmth and personality to any space. At Swoye, we have not only a diverse range of types of wood and finishing styles to choose from, but also offer a variety of surface treatments that either show off the wood’s natural beauty or give it that extra durability boost it needs to tackle different weather conditions. So, whether you’re looking to keep things rustic or ready for the elements, we’ve got you covered.
Oiled
Over time, like all wood, the surface of our thermally modified wood products naturally develops a silver-gray patina due to exposure to UV light. This process begins right away and can take anywhere from a few months to several years, depending on the amount of UV exposure. While this change in color doesn’t affect the wood’s strength or durability, you can preserve or adjust the color by treating the wood with a UV-resistant oil. For decking, we suggest applying the oil annually, and for cladding, every 2–3 years. We offer both light and dark oils to suit your preferences. This will protect the wood from dirt and moisture, make cleaning easier, and bring out the wood’s natural beauty.
Lacquered
A lacquered finish is perfect for those who want to add a touch of elegance and protection to their wood surfaces. Our lacquered treatment creates a smooth, high-gloss sheen that not only enhances the wood’s natural beauty but also provides a strong barrier against moisture, scratches, and daily wear. This finish is ideal for areas where durability is key, like furniture or cabinetry, offering both style and resilience. Plus, the lacquer we use is carefully selected to be both safe and environmentally friendly, so you can enjoy the beauty of your wood with peace of mind.
Water-based acrylic varnish
A layer of water-based acrylic varnish offers a range of benefits that enhance both the look and longevity of your wood surfaces. It beautifully brings out the rich tones and unique grain patterns, giving your panels a polished and elegant finish. This varnish creates a durable layer of protection that guards against scratches, stains, and general wear, helping your wall panels remain in excellent condition. Additionally, it provides superb moisture resistance, making it ideal for areas prone to humidity. With its low-odor application, this varnish ensures a convenient and pleasant experience during both installation and maintenance.
